RECYCLED P-ARTS:
The art of community partnership
What do you get when you combine Suncor
scrap metal with talented artists and eager high school students? Public art for Fort McMurray.
In a unique project, we partnered with Keyano College and Fort McMurray’s Catholic and public school districts to create public art using recycled material from our oil sands operations. The project highlights our commitment to the environment and community, as it diverts material from the landfill, lets students enhance their artistic skills and creates art everyone can enjoy. The five resulting sculptures will be installed throughout Fort McMurray.

Our progress on the cost reduction efforts
On April 1, Suncor issued a news release about our cost reduction efforts. In the release, we confirmed we are on track to achieve the $1 billion reduction in our capital budget, while maintaining progress on key growth projects already in construction, including
Fort Hills and Hebron. We expect the $600 million to $800 million in savings in our operating budget will be substantially realized in 2015, ahead of the previously projected two-year period by deferring non-essential work, working with suppliers to improve efficiency and making difficult decisions related to our workforce.
