Wreck hunter touts technology at conference
Dr. Bob Ballard, who discovered the wrecks of the Titanic, the Bismarck and two U.S. Navy atomic submarines, was the keynote speaker for our first Engineering and Engineers-in-training (EIT) conference Nov. 13 and 14. More than 400 of our engineers and EITs attended the networking and knowledge-sharing event, devoted to “Creating Value Through Technical Excellence.” President and CEO Steve Williams told attendees technical excellence and innovation are
central to our business strategy
and ongoing competitive

the crowd to share conference
learnings with team members throughout the company. Guests included representatives from Canada’s Oil Sands Innovation Alliance and GE.
Grin and bear it
You could bearly contain the excitement at the 20th Anniversary Petro-Canada Teddy Bear Toss Game Dec. 7. After the first goal, Calgary Hitmen fans threw 25,214 teddy bears onto the ice where 120 Suncor volunteers and their families were on hand to collect the bears and get them ready to be distributed to more than 60 local charities.

Move over, YouTube! Suncor’s internal video portal, SunTube, is up and running. Employees and contractors can view hundreds of videos, from training, ads
and news to the Suncor Amazing Race.
To access, type ‘SunTube’ in your browser. First-time viewers should set up preferences by logging in with your Suncor network username and password. For assistance, refer to the SunTube Help Guide on the portal’s top right-hand corner. You can also set favourites and share videos. To upload a new video, engage your business partner communicator, who will review the video’s content and submit your upload request.
