New product from Lubes
START YOUR ENGINES!
We released a new fuel-efficient heavy-duty engine oil – DURON-E UHP 5W-30 – in November. DURON-E UHP 5W-30 has been a two-year journey made possible by the dedication, hard work and collaboration of many departments within Lubricants, such as R&D, Marketing, Customer Order Fulfillment, Technical Services and Sales.
“This launch is yet another example of Petro-Canada Lubricants delivering innovative solutions,” says Barnaby Ngai, category portfolio manager. “Our goal is to provide a product that keeps businesses moving around the world.” The launch not only reflects our continued commitment to innovating high performing heavy duty engine oils, but also to sustainability. DURON-E UHP 5W-30’s ability to provide better fuel economy results in less fuel consumption and lower emissions.
Members of the Lubricants team celebrate the product launch.
COSIA gaining traction
Canada’s Oil Sands Innovation Alliance (COSIA) aims to reduce the fresh water intensity of in situ plants by 50 per cent. The new goal, to be achieved by 2022, was announced Nov. 25 at COSIA’s second annual Performance Update meeting. COSIA is a group of 13 major oil sands producers including Suncor, formed to improve environmental performance through technology sharing and collaboration. We are participating in more than 60 COSIA projects and leading more than 20. In 2014, Suncor received
final sanction for the Water Technology Development Centre
at Firebag and partnered with GE on the steam assisted gravity drainage produced water treatment pilot project at MacKay River. Last year, COSIA initiated 68 projects worth $200 million.

Making Connections in our communities
You might think those stories and pictures of us
out and about in the communities where we live
and work aren’t important. But they are. We are proud to introduce a new series of e-newsletters, called Suncor Connections. We've opted for a sustainable, social-media friendly, interactive approach to ensure we are living up to our commitments.
“We won’t operate for long if we do not have support from our local communities,” says Rebecca Sullivan, GM stakeholder and Aboriginal relations. “It’s part
of the way we must do business.”
