ABORIGINAL AWARENESS TRAINING OPEN TO ALL
Suncor’s web-based training on Aboriginal awareness is now available on suncor.com. The training was originally developed for employees to learn about the history and experiences of Aboriginal Peoples in Canada. By request from our community partners, the training is now available to anyone free of charge. The course was created as part of our social goal, focused on strengthening relationships and changing the way we think and act to increase the participation of Aboriginal Peoples in energy development between now and 2025.
Suncor nodosaur unveiled at Tyrrell
An armoured dinosaur discovered at Suncor’s Millenium mine in 2011 is now on display at the Royal Tyrrell Museum in Drumheller, Alta. The nodosaur was unveiled May 12 as the centerpiece to the Museum’s Grounds for Discovery exhibit where fossils on display were unearthed from different industrial sites from across Alberta. The specimen, discovered by operator Shawn Funk, is the best-preserved armoured dinosaur in the world.
Celebrating Canada 150
In May, Suncor rolled out a challenge to all employees and contractors to do three things for community in 2017. Inspired by the Three Things for Canada campaign, the Suncor Energy Foundation will reward every participant who shares their ‘three things,’ with $150 SunCares dollars to donate to a charity of their choice. Employees and contractors in all Suncor locations can participate. Check out the Core for more details.
Business blooms with White Rose
On May 29, Husky announced the White Rose Extension Project is moving ahead with development. This joint venture (JV) project will allow partners to develop the western portion of the White Rose eld located on the edge
of the Jeanne d'Arc Basin. Husky is
the project operator, with Suncor as a JV partner. Suncor holds an approximate 26 per cent blended working interest in the project.
Hebron sets sail
On April 18, Hebron’s tow-out ceremony took place. At the event, Steve Hogan,
vice president, East Coast, joined Newfoundland & Labrador Premier Dwight Ball,
other senior members of government and Hebron co-venturers in the ceremonial chain cutting, signifying completion of the platform’s construction and readiness for the eld. Hebron will be towed to its nal destination 350 km southeast of St. John's in the Jeanne d’Arc Basin. First oil from the Hebron project is targeted for Q4 2017.
