My son Stephen was evacuated Tuesday afternoon, drove up to the Suncor camp where he was welcomed and given a bed and a hot meal. He was evacuated again thanks to Suncor... from a very worried mother!”

“During the evacuations I ended up with 25 family members,  ve dogs, two cats and a pot-bellied pig at my home in Calgary. I had so much support and concern from my Suncor family that it was truly overwhelming. All are settled in their temporary accommodations; even the pig is at a doggie day care until they can go back home.”

The halls within the emergency operations centre at Suncor Energy Centre were wallpapered with messages of support, a welcome sight for the teams working around the clock.
Fort McKay elder Marilyn Coate received
“the best Mother’s Day present a person could get,” when we helped rescue her cat. Known as ‘Operation Snowball,’ Stakeholder and Aboriginal Relations, Security and Operations employees worked with other companies to transport this little guy from Joslyn Creek Lodge to Shell Albian where he was put on a  ight to Edmonton and reunited with his mom.
Michael Juma, mechanical reliability engineer, U2 primary, was reunited with his pets with help from the Suncor Family Response Centre after being evacuated from Fort McMurray.
