“There probably isn't a community on the planet better equipped to handle a situation like this! It's absolutely amazing to see tens of thousands of people being put up in these massive work camps! Good job to all the emergency responders, the community and industry for taking care of us all so well!”
– ADAM BYBLOW, supervisor mine entry, and dad to Holly and Madellaine shown here at Fort Hills McLelland Lake Lodge with their Aunt Megan Byblow.
“I am so proud to be part of an amazing company. I had no doubt that the Suncor people that we still had up there would be the rst to offer anything they could. It is truly moving how everyone has come together.”
– KATIE BRYDEN, admin contracts

“From afar, I have been watching the res in
Fort McMurray unfold and cannot believe what has happened to the community. I wanted to express my profound thanks for the generous support and extraordinary leadership that Suncor has shown,
to Albertans, Canadians and the world, from day one of this crisis. Know that we Canadians abroad are so very proud and grateful for what you have done, and no doubt will continue to do, as the region gets back on its feet again. Which it surely will, as we all know. So a ‘grand merci’ to you and your teams.”
– ELIZABETH CORDEAU-CHATELAIN, head of governance & métier support, Total Paris
“A BIG thanks to Suncor for the ways they have treated everyone in the face of this tragedy. I witnessed great generosity and care from this company. The care displayed by camp staff (in the face of their own worries and uncertainty) towards many people has been nothing short of wonderful. The effort expended by Suncor to care for these folks has been nothing short of Herculean. These may just be some of Suncor's nest hours!”

“We will be wearing our jackets as much as possible during this time to show our pride in being part
of such a caring company as Suncor Energy!”
– CATHY MCLEOD, co-ordinator contractor on-boarding, shown here with husband Rory McLeod, team leader, master data management.
“There were so many unknowns for my wife and I after the evacuation once we knew our home was gone. We were extremely grateful that Suncor connected us with Cathy who graciously and generously provided us with shelter for an entire month while we gured out our next steps.”
– JAMES O’REILLY, lead, OEMS, shown here with wife Candice Giles.
Through his iPhone, James watched his home go up in ames – a video that caught the attention of the entire country. Devastated and homeless, as so many were, James was speechless when Cathy Glover, director of community investment, offered her vacation rental in Canmore free
of charge. Cathy was just one of 78 Suncor employees, retirees, board members and even former employees who offered temporary accommodation for displaced residents.
James is one of hundreds of Suncor employees who either lost their homes or are unable to return home. Through the work of our Re-entry Steering Committee, Suncor and RMWB community partners will continue to support them and other residents as they rebuild their lives and homes in Fort McMurray.
