SURVEY SAYS...
Earlier this spring, we asked you to tell us what you like about working at Suncor and where you see opportunities for improvement. The results of the 2017 Employee Engagement Survey are now coming in. While our senior leaders continue to review and understand the responses, here’s a look at what we’ve learned so far.
OUR STRENGTHS
The three things you are most satis ed with are safety, co-workers, and our external brand and reputation in sustainability – both with communities where we operate and as a leader in our industry.
“Feedback isn’t always easy to hear, but it’s essential as we continually move to build a high-performance organization that people want to be part of and where each individual can make a difference and feel valued. While we have so many things to be proud of, we clearly have some work to do. The bottom line is engaged employees are the fuel that will drive our company forward and I know that every member of the leadership team is digging into their results and working together to take meaningful action on the feedback we have received.”
– Paul Gardner, SVP, Human Resources
OUR 2017 EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT SURVEY BY THE NUMBERS:
52 PER CENT
overall employee engagement
A ve per cent drop from our 2014 survey.
“All feedback is a gift and therefore it is critical we listen carefully to the feedback from the survey, including having meaningful conversations with employees to ensure we understand it. This understanding is important in order to make sure that any actions we take in response to that feedback will be effective. Throughout this process, we all need to work together to ensure that Suncor is a great place to work.”
– Kris Smith, EVP, Downstream
OPPORTUNITIES TO IMPROVE
Based on feedback, we’re looking at what we can do to improve in the areas of effective and visible leadership, learning and development, career opportunities and work processes.
“The information employees have provided is an un ltered view for leaders across the company to really understand how everyone is experiencing our workplace. We are going to look at the data and see opportunities for improvements, and we can take action knowing what is important to you as an outcome.”
– Mark Little, president, Upstream
WHAT HAPPENS NOW?
Leadership teams are taking the time to review and understand what we heard. From there, we will develop action plans and continue to focus on ways to improve. Area results and action plans will be shared
with everyone later this year.
