NEWS FROM AROUND THE BUSINESS...
GET INVOLVED IN THE UNITED WAY
Kicking off September 26, the company-wide United Way campaign runs until October 31. As in 2015, “Create a Better World Together” remains the theme and heart of this year’s campaign. This is one way we’re working together to impact change and social progress in our communities. Those who participate this year will invest locally in three crucial areas: moving people from poverty to possibility, helping kids be all they can be, and building strong communities. Check the Core for opportunities to get involved.
Operations complete turnaround
Delayed a month as a result of wild res in the region, Oil Sands completed its spring planned maintenance on Upgrader 2 in June. The turnaround activities required 30 months of pre-planning, approximately 2,500 craft workers and nearly two million hours. Downstream completed three planned maintenance events this spring at the Sarnia, Montreal and Commerce City re neries. We had strong maintenance execution at each re nery and came in on-time, on-budget and with great safety and environmental performance. Terra Nova also completed a planned maintenance event in June.

Sporting red & white in Rio
The 2016 Olympic Games are underway in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with the Paralympic Games kicking off September 7. No matter where you live or who you cheer for, the Olympic and Paralympic Games have a unique way of bringing out the national pride in each of us. For us at Suncor, they are a particular point of pride because of our 28-year history supporting Canadian athletes, coaches and their families. Here are a few ways we are supporting our athletes and their coaches’ journey to the podium this summer:
• Through our Canadian Athlete Family Program, we provided game tickets to each Canadian Olympic and Paralympic athlete so their biggest supporters – their families – are able to watch them compete live in Rio.
• Over 30 former FACETM athletes are competing in Rio, including Brittany MacLean (swimming), Liam Hickey (wheelchair basketball) and Rosie MacLennan (trampoline).
• We are celebrating the coaches that
support our Canadian athletes with a special Fuelling the Dream Evening during the Olympic Games.
• We launched a lapel pin program to support our FACE program – 25 per cent of the proceeds from the sale of Olympic / Paralympic pins will go to support our FACE athletes and their coaches.

2016 Report on Sustainability released
Suncor’s 2016 Report on Sustainability was released in July. The report summarizes how we did in meeting our environmental performance goals, which matured at the end of 2015. It also details two new sustainability goals that Suncor will work towards in the coming years, including a greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions intensity goal and Suncor’s rst social goal focused on our relationship
with Aboriginal Peoples of Canada. Other highlights from the report include our approach to technology development, and a Q&A on how energy and environmental leaders found common ground to work together to support Alberta’s climate change plan. The report can be viewed online at sustainability.suncor.com.
