When drilling manager
Brian Brown boarded the
Awilco WilHunter drilling
rig in the North Sea, he
didn’t like what he saw.
The rig and its crew had
an alarming safety record.
Brian led his team through
a 12-point improvement
plan that saw the
frequency of incidents on
the rig plunge to zero for
the remaining 176 days of
the drilling program. This
achievement earned Brian
a President’s Operational
Excellence Award,
Personal Safety category.
